Benkovac – Reisgids Kroatië

An inland Dalmatian town 30 km east of Zadar in the Ravni Kotari agricultural plain, Benkovac is the gateway to the Krka canyon from the north and to several ancient Illyrian and Roman archaeological sites including Asseria (nearby Roman town ruins). The town has a medieval fortress and is known for its authentic Dalmatian cattle market.
