**Biokovo Mountain and Nature Park:** The standout excursion from both towns. The dramatic Biokovo limestone massif rises directly behind Makarska and Tučepi, and the **Biokovo Skywalk** (opened 2020) — a glass-floored viewing platform at 1,228 m — is accessible by road from the Nature Park entrance near Makarska. The road is steep and narrow; allow 45 minutes one-way from Makarska and drive carefully. Nature Park entry costs approximately €7 per vehicle plus €7 per person on foot. The summit, Sveti Jure (1,762 m), is reachable on foot from the upper road in 2–3 hours; views on a clear day extend to Italy. No technical climbing required but sturdy footwear is essential. The park also has shorter marked hiking trails on the lower slopes.

**Day trip to Brač (ferry from Makarska):** Take the Jadrolinija car ferry from Makarska harbour to Sumartin on Brač (~1 hour). From Sumartin, Zlatni Rat beach near Bol is a further 35 km drive. **Makarska Riviera neighbouring towns:** Both towns are good bases for the wider Riviera. **Brela** (13 km north of Makarska) has the famous Punta Rata beach, consistently rated one of Croatia's most beautiful. **Baška Voda** (7 km north) has a pleasant waterfront and the Zmajeva špilja (Dragon's Cave) prehistoric site. **Podgora** (5 km south of Tučepi) is quieter and has a distinctive war memorial on the cliff above the town.

**Water activities:** Both towns offer boat trips, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, snorkelling, and sea kayaking excursions. Makarska operators run organised day trips to Hvar island and to the Blue Grotto (Modra špilja) on Biševo. Boat rental is available from Makarska harbour.
