A UNESCO World Heritage city on a tiny island connected to the mainland by bridges, Trogir is one of the best-preserved Romanesque-Gothic cities in Europe. Its compact old town features the Cathedral of St. Lawrence with the magnificent Portal of Radovan (1240), the Kamerlengo Fortress overlooking the sea, Venetian palaces, and a lively Riva waterfront. Just 27 km west of Split, Trogir is easily reached by local bus and ferries run to the nearby Čiovo island and the Šolta archipelago.
