A small medieval town on the Pelješac peninsula guarded by the Great Wall of Ston — the longest preserved fortress wall in Europe at nearly 5.5 km, often called the European Great Wall. Ston is also renowned for its saltpans, which have been in continuous operation since medieval times, and for the finest oysters and mussels in the Adriatic, harvested from the pristine waters of Mali Ston Bay.
