Novigrad's compact old town is enclosed by remnants of ancient city walls and centred on the Romanesque-Baroque Church of St. Pelagius, whose crypt holds early Christian relics. The town is known for its excellent restaurants, fishing harbour, art galleries, and relaxed atmosphere — a quieter, more intimate alternative to nearby Poreč and Rovinj.
