A small baroque market town in Varaždin County, northern Croatia, Ludbreg carries two remarkable distinctions: a 1728 cartographic designation as the geographical 'Centre of the World', commemorated by a stone plaque and dedicated museum in the arcaded main square, and the Sanctuary of the Holy Blood of Christ — one of Croatia's most important Catholic pilgrimage sites, preserving a relic connected to a Eucharistic miracle of 1411, officially recognised by Pope Leo X in 1512.
