An elegant small town on the Opatija Riviera, 6 km south of Opatija, known for its well-preserved Art Nouveau and Secessionist villas, a charming medieval old town with a 14th-century loggia, and the famous Lovranska draga gorge hiking trail leading into the Učka mountain range. Lovran was a fashionable resort for Austro-Hungarian aristocracy and retains much of that refined atmosphere. The town is also celebrated for its chestnut festival each October.
