The museum, opened in 2010, is one of the most impressive natural history museums in Central Europe. Beyond its prehistoric fame, Krapina is a pleasant Zagorje hill town with a medieval old town, a thermal spa, and excellent access to the castles, vineyards and pilgrimage sites of the surrounding region. The best months to visit Krapina are May, June, July, August, September, October. In peak season (July–August) prices are at their highest and accommodation books up weeks in advance.
