Croatia is one of Europe's best camping destinations with over 500 campsites ranging from large Adriatic beachfront sites to small natural camping areas (divlje kampiranje). Istria has the highest concentration of quality campsites including Camping Bijela Uvala in Poreč (3,000 pitches, direct beach access) and Camping Polari in Rovinj. Pitches cost from €20 to €60 per night in peak season depending on site and pitch type.
Dalmatian coast campsites: Camp Solitudo on the island of Brač, Camp Vira on Hvar, and numerous sites near Split and Zadar. Island campsites typically require ferry transport and pitch sizes are smaller. Korčula, Brač, and Hvar have well-established camping infrastructure. Most sites accept motorhomes, caravans, and tents.
National park camping: Wild camping is prohibited in all Croatian national parks. The nearest official campsites to Plitvice Lakes are in the villages of Mukinje and Rastovača, approximately 2 km from the park entrances. Camping near Krka National Park is available in Šibenik and Skradin. Camping is permitted in some nature parks (parici prirode) with prior permission.
Facilities: Most Croatian campsites include electricity hook-ups (10A), clean toilets and hot showers, supermarket or shop, and WiFi. Premium sites add pools, restaurants, kids' clubs, and sports facilities. The camping season runs April to October, with year-round sites mainly in Istria.
